About

Hi there. I am Dr. Joana Clayton, an experienced educator with a strong commitment to supporting diverse learners. With 15 years of experience in leading international schools, I have dedicated the last 9 years to working with students with additional needs, including those with dyslexia, dyscalculia, autism, ADHD, and other learning needs.
My philosophy is rooted in the belief that every student can achieve success both in the classroom and beyond, provided they receive appropriate support. My doctoral research focused on developing evidence-based support frameworks for inclusive education. In addition to my doctorate, I hold two Master's degrees—one in Education and another in Psychology—and have completed a post-graduate course in Inclusive and Special Education. I am also a certified Orton-Gillingham practitioner.
Currently, I am based in Japan, where I serve as an Individual Needs Teacher at one of Tokyo's most prestigious schools.
